Due to the drought of interesting news and lack of new album releases, I am forced to make my first filler post… sorry.

First on the list:

Roadrunner is releasing an album inspired by the video game, God of War. It features various artists such as Dream Theater, Opeth, Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Mutiny Within, and Taking Dawn (listed in order of my preference). The release date is March 2, according to my recollection. I feel iffy towards this concept. It seems that whenever video games branch out to any other form of media/entertainment (especially movies) it is usually a huge bust. On the other hand, Dream Theater and Opeth scream “success!” I’ll definitely check it out and let you know what I think.

I’m surprised that with such talent as Megadeth, Dream Theater, and Opeth, Roadrunner still feels the need to sign such wannabe musicians as Dommin, Taking Dawn, and Rob Zombie. They are the three latest releases by the company and no one is impressed. Everything about the music is watered down to a level beyond stupidity. Artists like these do not have a place in the music scene.

I recently got around to listening to the highly acclaimed Mabool album by Orphaned Land. Apparently it took around seven years or so just to compose, produce, and organize. I must say, it definitely shows. This is an amazing album, and if I did not have my issues with death growling, I would give it an A+. However, I can only give it an A. Still, very amazing album with deep lyrics and creative sound. A definite recommendation if you liked their recent release, The Never Ending Way of ORwarriOR.

So, that is all for now. Hopefully things will pick up and I won’t have to throw more garbage at you. Until next time…
