Avantasia – Angel of Babylon: Review

Angel of Babylon is part three of Avantasia’s “The Scarecrow” trilogy. It is to be released on April 3 along with the second part, The Wicked Symphony. After hearing the second part, I had extremely high expectations for this album. Though it does not meet these expectations, it is still a very good album.

Avantasia – The Wicked Symphony: Review

On April 3, the German power metal band, Avantasia, is to release part two and three of the “Scarecrow” trilogy. The two are named The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon. I’ve heard rather mediocre comments towards the first album, so I was somewhat skeptical diving into these two. To avoid having one album compromise my opinion of the other, I decided to distance them. I started with the second part of the trilogy, and it has me hooked.

Queensrÿche – American Soldier: Review

Queensrÿche‘s 10th studio album (if I recall correctly) is to be released on March 31, but I managed to get an early listen of it. American Soldier is a concept album; an album in which every song contributes to an overall idea (in this case, it’s likely something to do with war… probably). This collection of songs does just as the album cover suggests and puts you, the listener, in the boots of an American soldier.
