[Recap] September 2010

October 5, 2010 Leave a comment

As you can tell, it’s been really slow on my end here on the blog. This is largely due to the fact that I have not been overly impressed with new releases as of late, and have grown weary of all the bad things I feel obligated to say. The heartbreaking departure of Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater only added to my soulful sorrows. But there has been a few happenings this month, and they include the following:

  • Album of the Month
  • Other albums
  • My rant
  • Kamelot interview
  • My personal favorites of the month

It’s been a while since I’ve sincerely enjoyed an album, but this month delivered. The funny thing is I have not even reviewed this album yet. Still, with full confidence, I present to you what I believe is the Album of the Month:

Kamelot Interview

September 26, 2010 1 comment

This week, specifically Thursday Sept 23, 2010, I had the opportunity to interview (via phone) Thomas Youngblood, guitarist of the high-esteemed Kamelot. On September 3 this year, the highly praised Kamelot is to release their upcoming record entitled Poetry for the Poisoned. It has been a long time coming for the fans, and the band assures us that the wait will be rewarded. I’m extremely excited despite being disappointed by their latest release… not unimpressed, but disappointed. Still, I haven’t lost faith in them, and I’m hoping to give the anticipated album a good review.

The band is also to be touring this fall. They unfortunately will not be coming here. But if they’re in your town, check them out!

Anyways, here is the album art, care of the folks from Earsplit. Enjoy!

As you all know, my major contribution to this blog have been my infamous early reviews for albums (mainly progressive or metal).  My obvious silence is a result of a lack of exciting album releases these past months, as well as personal reasons. But with our primary contributor leaving, I feel obligated to help seal the cracks in this dilapidated site. Some of you are probably asking, “Are you still alive and well?” Uh, well… we’re still alive. Now I don’t have any definite plans for the near future, but if this blog is still up and running into the new year, here’s what I have coming:
